I would like to congratulate my friend, Raymone Bain, for being a 2016 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

She currently serves as the spokesperson for former D.C. First Lady Cora Masters Barry, and the Barry Estate, and serves on the Marion Barry, Jr. Steering and Legacy Committee, which recently held the unveiling of Mr. Barry’s monument at the historic Congressional Cemetery, in Washington, D.C.
In 2006, Michael Jackson made history by naming Raymone Bain, an African American woman, as his personal General Manager and President/COO of the Michael Jackson Company. He subsequently appointed her to the Board of Directors of Sony/ATV Music Publishing; as his Music Licensing Agent for MIJAC, MIRAN and Sony/ATV Music; as Trustee of MJ Publishing Trust; and, made her a 10% owner of The Michael Jackson Company, LLC, as well as appointed Ms. Bain to the Board of Directors of the company, making her one of the most powerful and respected women in the Entertainment industry. In an October 2006, Washington Post article, Michael Jackson was quoted as saying that he trusted Bain implicitly, and considered her to be one of his closest advisors.
One of the youngest in history to have ever worked in a professional capacity at The White House, at 21, she was an elite member of what they called at the time, "the Georgia Mafia," reserved only for the most influential Georgians with close proximity to President Jimmy Carter. Rita Samuels, Founder of the Georgia Coalition of Black Women, C. DeLores Tucker, and Coretta Scott King, were mentors with whom she spoke daily; Coretta, she had a special bond, as both were born on April 27th. They would often speak late at night, and fall asleep talking to each other. A little known fact is that Michael Jackson was one of the last people to speak to Mrs. King before she died. Raymone set up the call through her friend, the late Yolanda King.
Raymone Bain is an unsung hero, who has cracked the glass ceiling into tiny pieces, and without much fanfare. She prefers generating press and recognition for her clients rather than for herself.
While still a student at Georgetown Law Center, she was hired by the legendary and iconic, Richard Pryor, and his powerful attorney, Terry Giles. They had just met her at a dinner party in Washington, D.C. She was just that impressive; and, she was only 25 years old. During an orientation session at Giles’ law firm in Santa Maria/Costa Mesa, California, she advised him that a few people wanted to meet her. This meet & greet was coordinated via a friend of hers, actress Myra Waters. Giles arranged for a car to pick her up at her hotel. But, it wasn't just any car, it was a gold stretch, with personalized plates that read "R. Pryor2." Raymone didn't know whose house the limo was taking her to, nor was she told who would be there. The address was 1151 Summit Drive, Beverly Hills, California.
When she arrived at 1151 Summit, she was surprised to find that she had arrived at the home of Sammy Davis, Jr., and his wife, Altovise, in a limo nonetheless, with Richard Pryor’s personalized license plates attached. Greeted by Altovise and Myra, she was warmly escorted inside to find friends, Lucille Ball, Louis Jourdan,
Johnny Carson, and Bob Hope, among a few others. Raymone could not believe her eyes. Who hadn’t loved Lucy, Ethel, Rickie, and Fred? Who hadn’t stayed up late watching Johnny Carson? And who didn’t know Bob Hope, who always thanked us for the memories? Mega legends to the nth degree. Lucy, Sammy, et. al., were regular card partners, Raymone was advised. There was this overwhelming curiosity in all of LA., as to who this youngwoman was, who had been hired by Richard Pryor.
There were no cell phones, or cell phones with cameras; there was no twitter, Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, tumblr, or snapchats. But, Raymone Bain, a 25 year old, was introduced to Hollywood in a big way. She sat intimately with those whom we saw and admired from afar, and who literally were the definition and mainstay of Hollywood. This would be the life and world of Raymone K. Bain, who later would become the first woman, to serve as Michael Jackson’s General Manager; President/COO of the Michael Jackson Company; Trustee, MJ Publishing Trust; and his music licensing agent for MIJAC, MIRAN, and Sony/ATV Music.
Raymone K. Bain is a founding Board Member of the Recreation Wish List Committee, and was a Founding Board
Member of The Boarder Baby Project. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
